Marketing Cookies
Allows advertising measurement and relevant ads through Google, Meta, Microsoft and X. It also covers limited conversion events our server sends to OpenAI for ChatGPT ads: the ad click reference, event type, time, page and, for a subscription, the amount and currency paid. You can turn marketing off without affecting the service.
Tracks conversions from social media and display advertising campaigns, enables retargeting, and measures the effectiveness of our advertising. Used to build audience profiles for personalized marketing.

Enables retargeting campaigns to show you relevant advertisements on other websites based on your interactions with our platform. Measures ad campaign performance and optimizes ad delivery.

Meta pixel browser identifier. Set on our domain by the Meta pixel only while marketing cookies are on, and only on our public pages (never in your account or dashboard). Lets Meta count your visits to those pages and a completed sign-up, so we can measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram and show our ads to people who visited our site.

Stores the Meta ad click id (the "fbclid" in the link) when you arrive from an ad on Facebook or Instagram, so Meta can tie your visit and a completed sign-up to that ad. Set only while marketing cookies are on.

Attribution cookies
These two first-party cookies are not part of the categories above. They are written as soon as you arrive, before any cookie choice, when you come through a link that carries campaign labels, an ad click id or a partner's referral code, or when another website sent you; lr_gclid only for a Google ad. If you come directly, by typing our address or from a bookmark, lr_attr keeps only the page you landed on and the time, and only while analytics cookies are on. They only tell us which link, ad or website brought you to us, or that you came directly.
Remembers how you first reached our site: the campaign labels in the link you followed (utm source, medium, campaign and content), the Meta or X click id if you came from a Meta or X ad, the ChatGPT ad click reference (the "oppref") if you came from one of our ads in ChatGPT, which kind of ad click id the link carried if you came from another ad, such as one on Google or Bing (not the id itself), whether it carried a partner referral code, the host of the referring website and the page you landed on. If you came directly, by typing our address or from a bookmark, it keeps only the page you landed on and the time, and only while analytics cookies are on. We read it when you create an account to learn which channels bring sign-ups. It stays with us, with one exception: subject to your marketing preferences and the consent requirements described in our Privacy Policy, our server sends the ChatGPT ad click reference to OpenAI when you create an account, when your first scan qualifies or when you subscribe. Nothing in it is sent to Meta, X or other advertising platforms.

Remembers the Google Ads click id if you arrived from a Google ad, so that a later purchase can be attributed to that ad. It is shared with Google only at purchase, as described in our Privacy Policy.

How to manage cookies

Where we ask first
In the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and Canada we ask before setting optional cookies, and none of them run until you choose. Everywhere else, optional analytics and advertising cookies are on by default, and you can turn them off at any time from Cookie Settings. We also honour the Global Privacy Control signal: if your browser sends it, advertising cookies stay off.

When marketing cookies are on, we use the Meta pixel of Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. on our public pages: the homepage, pricing, our product and platform pages, and the blog. It sends Meta a page view for each of those pages, one event when you start the free scan and one when you create an account, using the _fbp and _fbc cookies listed above. Microsoft Advertising UET Tag (Optional)
When marketing cookies are on, we use the Universal Event Tracking (UET) tag of Microsoft Advertising on our site. It sends Microsoft a page view for each page you visit, one event when you create an account, one when the first scan of a new account finds more than a set number of possible leaks (without the number) and one when you make a purchase, using the _uetsid, _uetvid and _uetmsclkid cookies listed above. X Pixel (Optional)
When marketing cookies are on, we use the X pixel of X Internet Unlimited Company on the same public pages as the Meta pixel. It sends X a visit when you open one of those pages in your browser (moving on to other pages of our site from there sends no further visits), one event when you start the free scan and one when you create an account, using the _twpid, _twclid and _twsid cookies listed above. Outside those public pages it sends only those two events, which can happen during sign-up and carry the address of the sign-up page and nothing you typed. It sends nothing from your account or your dashboard. X may also read or set its own cookies on its own domains (such as t.co and analytics.twitter.com), as its cookie policy describes.
